Using markup code in EmediateAd

When these letter combinations (_L_ or _U_ or _P_) are used in creative names, the system sees them as macros and therefore replaces them with random number or click counts.

_L_ - Counting clicks on links in markup code

For the system to count clicks on links in markup code, you must rewrite the click URL. Just after the http:// and the rest of the URL, insert _L_.

Example:

<a href="http://www.advertiser.com/offer.html">

must be rewritten to:

<a href="http://_L_">

When booking the creative, the URL (http://www.advertiser.com/offer.html) must be inserted in the field: Click-through URL (for internal click counting).

This method can only be used when you have one link. For more than one, or when dealing with popups or popunders, please use the EASLink option.

EASLink - Counting clicks on multiple links

If you have more than one link that you want to count clicks on, or if you would like to count clicks in popups or popunder you should use this method. You can always use alternative 1 for the first click URL.

For the system to count clicks on links in markup code, you must rewrite the click URL. Just after the <a href=” and before the http://, insert “EASLink=.

Example:

<a href="http://www.advertiser.com/offer.html">

must be rewritten to:

<a href="EASLink=http://www.advertiser.com/offer.html>
The expression “EASLink” is case sensitive.

EmediateAd will automatically insert an individual keyword value for each click URL you rewrite with “EASLink”. The keyword value will include creative number and an individual link number.

When pulling a report on campaigns using this method, do not forget to include the keyword parameter.

_P_ - Referencing uploaded files in markup code

References to other uploaded files must be local. Just before the file name, insert _P_.

Example:

<img src="image.gif">

must be rewritten to:

<img src="_P_image.gif">

_U_ - Inserting UUID in markup code

Sometimes it is desired to insert a unique identifier into the markup code, to prevent browsers to cache the creative. Simply insert _U_ where you want the UUID for the ad request to be inserted.

Example:

<img src="http://ad.se.doubleclick.net/ad/www.customer.com/home;ord=INSERT_RANDOM_NUMBER_HERE">

should be rewritten to:

<img src="http://ad.se.doubleclick.net/ad/www.customer.com/home;ord=_U_">

The system will insert the UUID on the fly when delivering the creative. The UUID is a unique identifier for each ad request.
